About this project
The senior management of the Tripura Forest Department decided to replace the legacy CMS website of the organization developed by an external organization with a modern, highly customizable one and I was assigned with the overall assignment of ensuring the development within a short period of two months. The development did not utilize any ready made template and everything was built from scratch.
My Role (Deputy Conservator of Forests (IT & Statistics) in the Tripura Forest Department)
As the product manager on the product, I carried out the following:
- User interviews with officials at different levels of management to understand their requirements
- Researched and used open source GIS tools like Leaflet Map for cost effectiveness
- Wireframing of all web pages and getting multi-level approvals before coding
- Managing the engineering team to ensure to ensure timely attainment of project goals
- Procurement of server space from the government data center through multi-level negotiation
- Testing of applications for detection of bugs and further refinement
