About this project
The Tripura Forest Department established several areas without any trees called “Smriti Vans-aka Memory Forests”, where the people could come and plant trees in memory of their loved ones. This helped increase public participation in Forest Conservation. There are several people who are unable to visit the remote locations to do planting, to resolve this pain point and increase participation of that demographic also an online tool was created where people can make payment for planting, choose the desired location and planting would be done by the Forest Department staff and they will upload a geotagged photo of tree sapling planted in the applicant’s name.
My Role (Deputy Conservator of Forests (IT & Statistics) in the Tripura Forest Department)
As the product manager on the product, I carried out the following:
- User interviews with officials at different levels of management and local people to understand their requirements
- Develop EPICs and User Persona for the different categories of users
- Prioritization of Product Features
- Managing the engineering team for timely delivery
- Wireframing of key User Interfaces
- Testing of applications for detection of bugs and further refinement
- Release of applications followed by detailed user feedback collection for further refinement
